Argentine authorities reported on Thursday (8/8) that police discovered a tunnel more than 100 meters long in the city of San Isidro.

The tunnel was discovered after a neighbor reported an unusual metal rod sticking out of the street in front of a downtown bank. The tunnel's entrance was later traced to a garage.

Lucas Martin, an employee at a nearby shop, said he had seen people in construction gear and garbage trucks leaving the workshop for the past week.

San Isidro Mayor Ramon Lanus wrote on social media site X that the discovery had prevented the 'second biggest theft of the century.' (th/em)
