Singer Taylor Swift said on Instagram that she was “completely shocked” and still feeling “horrified” over the incident.

Police are questioning a 17-year-old suspect who was arrested minutes after the rampage in the seaside town of Southport, where residents laid flowers and stuffed animals in tribute.

The little girl, identified as Alice Aguiar by Portugal's Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Community Jose Cesario, said her family from the Madeira region were in shock.

Merseyside Police said the other victims were girls aged 6 and 7. Witnesses described scenes “out of a horror movie” as the bloodied children ran from the attack just before midday on Monday.

The suspect was arrested soon after on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Police said he was born in Cardiff, Wales, and lived for many years in a village about 5km from Southport. He has not been charged. (ps/you)
