Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Chinese Premier Li Qiang opened the Italy-China Business Forum in Beijing on Sunday (28/7). They previously signed a three-year cooperation plan that includes six agreements in areas ranging from industry to food security and education.
“The industrial cooperation memorandum we signed is a truly significant step,” Meloni said at the opening of the 7th Italy-China Business Forum.
“This memorandum now covers strategic industrial sectors such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, sectors where China has been operating at the forefront of technology for some time,” he continued.
The Italy-China Business Forum is also an opportunity for Meloni to recall the complex international situation that has an impact on “global security and economic integration.”
“I am definitely thinking about Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” he said. “I am thinking about the crisis in the Middle East, I am thinking about the tensions in the Red Sea, about the growing instability in Africa.”
Meloni is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday (29/7). On Monday he will also attend the opening of an exhibition on Marco Polo and meet with Chairman of the Chinese People's Assembly Zhao Leji. (uh/ab)
