Vietnamese football expert, Doan Minh Xuong, is worried about the condition of The Golden Stars ahead of their opponent against the Indonesian National Team in Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone. Minh Xuong is worried because the morale of Vietnamese players is considered to be dropping after achieving minor results in the 2023 Asian Cup.
Vietnam will face the Indonesian National Team twice. The team made by Philippe Troussier will first visit the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on March 21, before hosting the Garuda Squad at the My Dinh National Stadium on March 26 2024.
Ahead of the match, Minh Xuong was not sure about the strength of the Golden Star Warriors squad. Moreover, Troussier's troops are currently being haunted by a minor trend after not qualifying for the 2023 Asian Cup group phase. In addition, the current sloping schedule is considered to cause the players' condition to decline.
“I'm worried because the team's morale is down. The players will rest for Chinese New Year, then return to the Vietnam League for a few matches, and then gather with the team again to prepare for two matches against Indonesia,” said Minh Xuong, quoted by Vietnam Express, Monday (12/2/2024).
“I think there will be a lot of players out of shape and injured. Young players, as mentioned, are not mature enough to play square with opponents,” he continued.
However, Minh Xuong is confident that Vietnam can perform well and win in the match against the Indonesian national team. But if he loses, Troussier's position will be threatened.
“I think, if we can fix this problem, Vietnam will still be able to beat Indonesia to enter the final qualifying round of World Cup qualification. If Troussier fails, he will definitely have to go,” concluded Doan Minh Xuong.
