Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo assessed that the sport of billiards during the leadership of PB POBSI General Chair Hary Tanoesoedibjo could overcome various challenges. One of them was when Indonesia was during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dito said this after opening the 2023 PB POBSI National Conference (Munas) at the Lido Lake Resort Hotel, Bogor Regency, Monday (11/12/2023).
“I think that when POBSI was held by Mr. Hary Tanoe, even though we were going through a challenging period at that time, we were facing a pandemic, but we can see how POBSI as an organization is running well and also in terms of coaching and development, its commitment is very high,” said Dito.
This is proven by various achievements at world and regional and Asian championships. Where, many Indonesians have received champion titles and achievements.
“And in terms of sport, we can see that currently there are lots of events in the regions related to billiards achievements, and the peak will be in January, and this will even be the first time the Indonesia Open International Billiards will be held,” he said.
Dito believes that the sport of billiards has become popular in society and has multi-effects. The most important thing is how billiards can improve sports culture in Indonesia in the future.
“I always believe that billiards is a very popular sport in the community, so it has multiple effects, it can be implemented throughout Indonesia and most importantly, how can billiards improve the sports culture of the Indonesian people,” he hoped.
