A total of 132 tennis players in the men’s and women’s singles and doubles categories will compete in the 2023 DKI Jakarta Governor’s Official (Pj) Cup Tennis Tournament at the Borobudur Hotel, Central Jakarta on 11-17 December 2023. The tournament is being held by the All-Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti) of DKI Jakarta Province will compete for hundreds of millions in cash prizes.
General Chairperson of the Pelti DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for the 2023-2027 term of service, Hari Nugroho, said that this tournament is an annual agenda for Pelti with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
This tennis event is listed as an official Pelti Central agenda and is a Pelti Recognized Tournament (TDP) which influences the National Pelti Ranking (PNP) of tennis players. Hari explained that the tournament, which will be attended by 132 tennis players in the men’s and women’s singles and doubles categories, is a national scale competition.
“Of course, participants in this championship can be included in a higher level championship, because this tournament affects the PNP,” said Hari in Jakarta, Monday (11/12/2023).
Hari explained that if the tennis player becomes champion, his ranking will rise again. This means that you can represent at prestigious international tennis events and other classy tennis events.
The tennis players who have registered for this tournament come from Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Aceh, Bangka Belitung and DI Yogyakarta.
He said that the DKI Jakarta Governor’s Cup tennis tournament had been on hiatus or had not been held by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Pelti for approximately six years due to various obstacles, one of which was during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now, Hari admits, the management of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Pelti for the 2023-2027 term, which has only been formed for approximately seven months, is very concerned about the survival and sustainability of the DKI Jakarta Governor’s Cup tennis tournament, so this tournament is being held again.
