Suara.com – Candidate number 2 is still being talked about in the community recently. Gibran Rakabuming, who was initially praised as a young man who could step forward into the presidential and vice presidential candidacy, has recently appeared to be showing a decline.
It cannot be denied that the news about the advancement of President Jokowi’s eldest son has given rise to a polemic about violating the constitution. The polemic has not yet been resolved, recently he has received a lot of criticism about lowering Prabowo Subianto’s vote because he took Gibran as his vice presidential candidate.
So what are the things that are considered to lower Prabowo Subianto’s vote? Here’s the review.
1. Gibran Breaks Record for Absence from Open Discussion
Not long ago, a list of attendees at an open discussion on presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2023 went viral. The list was also shared by a social media activist, Doctor Tifa.
Through the X or Twitter account, Doctor Tifa shared the schedule for absences from the 2024 presidential and vice presidential open discussions. In the schedule, Prabowo and Gibran were marked in red with the caption “not present”.
Of the 19 open discussion events for the 2024 presidential and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo-Gibran only attended 8 events. Meanwhile, at 11 other events, Gibran’s name was recorded as not attending the event.
This is the opposite of the pair Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin). Anies-Cak Imin was seen not attending an open discussion event once.
Meanwhile, the couple Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD were seen attending 18 open discussions, and were absent only once.
At that time, an observer also highlighted the absence of public dialogue at UMS. According to political observers from Airlangga University (Unair), Airlangga Pribadi Kusman, his absence is a limitation of political strategy.
“The absence of President Jokowi’s son and Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, shows the limitations of political strategy,” he said.
In fact, political contestation requires a political battle of ideas to determine Indonesia’s future path, rather than gimmicks. Actually, gimmick politics is fine but you must not forget the substantial things.
However, the Prabowo-Gibran TKN denied that Gibran’s absence from several public dialogues was a matter of fear. But it is a strategy, this was conveyed by the Prabowo-Gibran TKN Secretary, Nusron Wahid.
“Oh no, because in politics there is a reference from the prophet ‘taqulu malayahyi’?, leave everything that is of no use. Ful khoiron auliyasmud, say something good, otherwise it’s better to keep quiet,” he said.
“People appearing in public, or not appearing in public, are part of the strategy,” he added.
2. Vice Presidential Debate Accused of Protecting Gibran
The situation became increasingly heated after the General Election Commission (KPU) recently changed new rules regarding debates ahead of the presidential election. Where the special vice presidential debate was removed and made the public focus on Gibran’s figure again.
The KPU itself has indeed eliminated the individual vice presidential debate. However, the three vice presidential candidates will still be required to debate in a different format. Where the moment will coincide with the presidential candidates or not separately.
Who would have thought that this news would actually become a polemic between the graves of Prabowo-Gibran and Anies-Muhaimin. However, according to explanations from the Ganjar-Mahfud camp, this debate format is not final.
This was also conveyed by the KPU Commissioner, Idham Holik. He revealed that there would be another coordination meeting with the campaign teams of the three presidential and vice presidential candidates.
“The KPU will hold another coordination meeting with the campaign team and later this will all be stated in the debate rules,” said Idham.
3. Gibran Mistakenly Called Folic Acid Sulfuric Acid
Recently, Gibran Rakabuming Raka has been in the spotlight again after misnaming folic acid for pregnant women as sulfuric acid. He has said this incorrectly twice, one of which was when he met a number of influencers in the Senopati area, South Newsdelivers.com, Sunday (3/12/2023).
Initially, Gibran discussed the issue of Golden Indonesia 2045. To make this happen, Gibran considered that Indonesia must prepare a golden generation where stunting can be eliminated.
Providing good nutrition for future generations is also a concern of the second presidential and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Advancing as potential leaders in 2024, Prabowo-Gibran created a special program for mothers and children.
One of them is the free lunch program for students. After that, there is also a Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS) specifically for mothers and children.
Gibran deliberately created the card to be able to monitor a child’s growth and development even while he was still in the womb.
“Then when you are pregnant, you have to check, for example, if you have sulfuric acid, is your iodine sufficient or not, when your child is born until 2 years old, is your breast milk sufficient or not, is your weight, height, okay or not,” said Gibran, quoted by Suara.com from a TikTok video @idrisbue.
Nevertheless, Golkar Chairman Airlangga Hartarto defended Gibran regarding this matter. He said that the election was still a long way off and there would still be many things to discuss instead of debating the wrong words.
“The election is still a long way off, it’s still February. There are still many forums,” said Airlangga.
“Of course there are many things that will be discussed,” he added.
