Suara.com – On the fourth day of the campaign period, Presidential Candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo took the time to visit the office of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) East Nusa Tenggara Province on Friday (1/12/2023).
In his meeting with a number of religious and community leaders, Ganjar Pranowo said that Kupang City is one of the regions in Indonesia where inter-religious tolerance is quite high.
Ganjar also considers that the high level of tolerance in Kupang City should be followed by other cities.
“Kupang is one of the cities with high tolerance. In Central Java there is the city of Salatiga. We must protect this together,” said Ganjar at the MUI NTT office, Friday.
Responding to this, the Deputy Chair of the NTT MUI, Abbas Gasim, considered that Ganjar’s statement of commitment to maintaining tolerance between religious communities needed to be supported by many parties. Because, according to him, an attitude of tolerance is an important part of being cultivated in order to defend the Republic of Indonesia.
“Yes, that is Pak Ganjar’s commitment to maintaining tolerance. We really support it because tolerance is very important for the nation and state,” said Abbas.
Abbas also said that Indonesia has various religions and beliefs that are understood so that we can understand and respect each other.
“Pak Ganjar already has that commitment,” he said.
