Lime to increase fertility
Kendra Segura, MD, an ob-gyn, said that until now there has been no scientifically proven way to increase fertility by changing diet. However, doctors generally advise married couples who are trying to get pregnant to maintain a healthy diet.
One of the fruits that is considered good for fertility is oranges. And there are many types of oranges, one of which is lime.
Quoting from the Denpasar Health Polytechnic Repository, this fruit with the Latin name Citrus aurantifolia is a plant that originates from Asia and grows well in tropical climates. Mothers certainly often see it.
Lime also contains many healthy benefits. Not only does lime contain vitamin C, it also contains vitamin A, sulfur, citric acid, glycosides, essential oils and many other ingredients, all of which are good for the body.
Oranges are also rich in potassium, calcium and folate (vitamin B). Mothers who are planning to become pregnant can consume other types of oranges, at least one serving of citrus fruit every day (medium sized grapefruit, one large orange, three clementines, or one kiwi).
“Even though it hasn’t been proven, some experts think that folate can help you get pregnant by regulating ovulation and creating a healthy environment for egg cells,” said Segura as reported by The Bump.
So is lime effective for fertility? Until now, no scientific research has been found that proves lime is effective in increasing fertility.

Lime side effects
Kim Chin, a registered dietitian, said that limes are generally safe to consume with little or no side effects. However, if you are allergic to other citrus fruits, avoid limes because they can cause food allergy symptoms, such as swelling, itching and difficulty breathing. If this happens, get medical help immediately.
Additionally, some people may experience acid reflux from eating limes or drinking juice because of its acidity. Other digestive symptoms may include heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing.
“Limes are very sour and are best enjoyed in moderation. Consuming a lot of limes can increase the risk of cavities, because the acid in limes – and other citrus fruits – can erode tooth enamel,” said Chin, quoted from Healthline.
To protect your teeth, be sure to rinse your mouth with plain water after eating a lime or drinking its juice.
How to consume lime
Limes have countless uses. Lime wedges are great for adding a citrus aroma to a pitcher of water. Mothers can consume it in various ways below:
Stir lime juice with sugar, water, and ice to make a refreshing lime juice. Serve the slices in tea or butterfly pea flower tea. Mix lime with soy sauce, garlic and ginger to make a marinade for grilled salmon.
