Suara.com – Cristiano Ronaldo showed the importance of respect and honesty when appearing in the Al Nassr vs Persepolis match on the fifth matchday of Group E of the 2023-2024 Asian Champions League, Tuesday (28/11/2023) early morning WIB.
The winner of five Ballon d’Or trophies refused a penalty after the referee thought a Persepolis defender had brought him down in the forbidden box.
Instead of feeling happy, Cristiano Ronaldo got up after falling and approached the referee. The Persepolis players looked displeased and asked him not to interfere in the debate.
However, interestingly, CR7 is actually on the same side as the Iranian team players. He made a gesture of shaking his index finger as a sign of disagreement with the referee’s decision.
Ronaldo’s protest also made the referee cancel his decision. Al Nassr did not receive a penalty.
The decision of the 38 year old Portuguese striker to some extent influenced the outcome of the match. The reason is, Al Nassr failed to win and had to settle for a 0-0 draw in front of their own supporters.
However, Ronaldo was happy with the team’s performance. A draw was also enough to make Al Nassr qualify for the knock-out phase of the 2023-2024 Asian Champions League as winners of Group E.

Al Nassr still tops the 2023-2024 Asian Champions League Group E standings with a collection of 13 points.
On the other hand, Persepolis is in second place with a collection of eight points from five matches.
Before being matched by Persepolis, Al Nassr appeared crazy in the first four matchdays of Group E. They always won.
Al Nassr recorded beating Persepolis at home with a score of 2-0, destroying Istiqlol 2-1, winning a fierce match against Al Duhail 4-3 and 3-2 back-to-back.
Considering that there is only one match left in the group phase, Al Nasr is certain to qualify for the next phase with the status of Group E champions.
It is no longer possible for their opponents to catch up with the team nicknamed Al Aalami, including Persepolis, who are also certain to advance to the knockout phase.
“Glad we qualified (for the knockout phase) as group winners and have achieved 20 unbeaten matches,” wrote Cristiano Ronaldo in X, Tuesday (28/11/2023).
“Great teamwork,” he added.
