Nothing compares to Yamah’s worry about Amar, who is now suffering from many illnesses. Moreover, Amar is the youngest child who is now the only child that Yamah has because his 4 siblings have died due to various illnesses.
No wonder, Yamah was seriously traumatized. Anxiety always covers him every time he sees Amar. A small family that now lives in Cibening Village, Bekasi Regency is struggling to strengthen each other.
“I’ll be honest, I’m traumatized, but I want to have other rich offspring, I want to have children, what does it feel like to have a child, when he learns to walk, speaking of which, I’m struggling with this child, there’s just a feeling of fear, like I’m scared like I died yesterday,” said Yamah, Amar’s mother is sad.

Just like his late brothers, Amar was born with poor health. This two year old toddler was diagnosed with GERD, duodenal stenosis or an abnormality in the duodenum, a leaky heart and an abnormality in his testicles. No one would have thought that behind his small body, Amar was suffering from many complications. Yamah admitted that her pregnancy was always accompanied by trials.
“Indeed, from the start, the first child always had problems, two children, three and four died, so the fifth child I checked at the hospital, then we knew from the first month that there were no problems. Until the 7th month, the doctor had an ultrasound. “I immediately had a lot of amniotic fluid,” said Yamah.

In March 2023, Amar underwent surgery on his intestines, stomach and testicles at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Supposedly, last June there was still a series of operations that Amar had to undergo.
However, due to lack of funds, Yamah and Arief decided not to seek treatment again. Yamah also explained that Amar’s development, although he looks active, is still relatively slow compared to two year old toddlers in general.
“As for his motor skills, the doctor said that his hormones are lacking, unlike other children, his growth is definitely slow, he’s indifferent, he walks slowly, and he can’t talk yet,” explained Yamah.
Caring for Amar certainly requires extra care and patience. Yamah and Arief’s economic conditions cannot be said to be adequate. Amar’s needs, which require special attention, sometimes make Yamah and Arief have to go into debt here and there. Everyone was mobilized to care for the only child they had.
Amar cannot consume staple foods other than milk. There are also various kinds of medicines that need to be taken to maintain their health condition. Yamah also had to rack his brains so that his beloved child’s needs could be met. Moreover, Arief’s income only works as a construction worker.
“Construction workers. But not every day. Sometimes I only get a week for a month. Some get 100 per day, some get 120 per day. If there’s an order to make wood, I’ll do it, I’ll do the chicken coop, bench, if there’s none, I’ll play with Amar. ,” said Arief.

Sometimes Arief also spends time building a chicken coop for additional income. However, all this income is still not enough to meet the living needs of this family.
“Actually, you can’t replace the milk, but it’s been almost a month since the milk was replaced because the father didn’t work. One box is two days’ worth of milk, then like Pampers I also reduced it, only at night. We’ve been selling everything we can and borrowing as much as we can. “-borrow, we’ve tried,” said Yamah to the merdekabaik.id team.
Yamah and Arief’s struggle to care for Amar is still long. They hope to see Amar grow up healthy like other children. This small family story has many meanings. About a father’s struggle for his family and a mother’s love for her child.
“I want to make my wife and children happy, I want to have a house, I want to have a decent place to live, I want Amar’s treatment until he is healthy, like other children,” said Arief regarding his biggest hope which he wants to make come true.
