Take a peek at the uniqueness of Spring Cocoon, the 2023 BWF China Masters event at Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium
JAKARTA – The world badminton event being held in China entitled BWF China Masters 2023 is still rolling to this day. The BWF World Tour competition is getting fiercer and Indonesia has sent 14 representatives to appear at the BWF China Masters 2023.
The BWF World Tour Super 750 will be held from 21-26 November 2023 at Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium, Shenzhen, China. This time the players will compete for a total prize of 1,000,000 USD or around IDR 15.4 billion.
Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium is in the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center Area which is located in the Nanshan district, Shenzhen, China. This gymnasium itself will be used for the first time for the BWF World Tour event at China Masters 2023.
Shenzhen Bay Sports Center is a sports hall that has many facilities consisting of an international standard gymnasium, stadium and natatorium. These three places are often known as “Spring Cocoon” because the buildings are shaped like silkworm cocoons.
Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium was completed in 2011, first used for the 2011 Summer Universiade, a basketball and gymnastics event. This gymnasium can accommodate 12,793 spectators and was officially opened to the public in August 2011.
This gymnasium is more often used for large events such as concerts, corporate events, and various conferences. Due to its capacity and area of 48,210 m2, this sports room has become a multi-purpose room for the community.
The euphoria towards the finals was also felt at the BWF China Masters 2023 this time, because several mainstay players returned to play representing Indonesia. Two Indonesian women’s doubles pairs, Apri/Fadia and Febrina/Amalia, must compete with their skills to advance to the next round at the 2023 BWF China Masters.
The top players in the men’s singles sector must survive with just 2 representatives this time. It is certain that Jonatan Christie will not take part in the badminton court at the Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium due to an injury to his left leg after playing at BWF Master Japan 2023.
Even so, Indonesia can still smile with other representatives, such as Gregoria Mariska who returned to play after winning the BWF Japan Master 2023. Gregoria managed to beat China’s women’s singles, Chen Yu Fei.
