JAKARTA – Ukraine’s Mammoth drone has proven reliable on the battlefield against Russia. Who would have thought, this weapon was their own work, not assistance from America or imported technology from other countries.
The capability of this kamikaze drone is claimed to be a serious threat to Russian troops. This is supported by video evidence confirming the Mammoth’s successful use on the front line, demonstrating its effectiveness in accurately hitting selected targets.
The video of an attack on Russian troops hiding in a building in Kherson depicts significant damage caused by a blast from a Mammoth drone.
“We have kept this a secret for a long time to avoid accidents during the development and testing phases. We carefully calibrated, improved and resolved initial problems until this rugged creation was ready,” wrote the creators of the Mammoth drone in a brief report, quoted from Essanews, Friday (24/11/2023).
A brief description of the Mammoth’s specifications reveals that this drone is larger than similar construction. This size contributes to its main feature which is capable of carrying loads of up to around 9 lbs or around 4.1 Kg.
The distance the Mammoth drone travels depends on the weight of the payload. It can reach up to 18.6 miles when carrying a load that does not exceed approximately 3.3 lbs. If using its full capacity and carrying closer to 9 lbs, the range is reduced to about 7.5 miles.
The Ukrainian and Russian conflict has demonstrated the important role of drones in modern armed confrontations. Ukraine continues to develop advanced designs capable of operating over distances of several hundred kilometers, such as the Beaver, Rubaka and Sea Baby drones which have played an important role in countering the Black Sea Fleet. The widespread use of kamikaze drones by both sides demonstrated their effectiveness as lethal weapons.
