VALENCIA – Ducati Lenovo racer, Francesco Bagnaia has the opportunity to join the ranks of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez if he succeeds in defending his championship title in MotoGP 2023. Bagnaia is also very happy if this can happen, even though his main focus at the moment is to complete the Valencia MotoGP 2023 perfectly.
Bagnaia has a big chance of retaining his championship title if the Italian rider is able to complete the Valencia MotoGP perfectly. The main race is scheduled to take place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Spain, Sunday (26/11/2023).
If the racer who is usually called Pecco is able to defend his championship title, then he will match the achievements of Rossi and Marquez in terms of defending the title. Bagnaia will also be the first rider to win back-to-back titles after Marquez last achieved this in 2018 and 2019.
It doesn’t stop there, Bagnaia will also become the first Ducati racer to successfully win two MotoGP titles in a row. If he can achieve this, his name will practically enter the history of the Italian factory team.
Talking about the possibility of coming out as champion in a row, Bagnaia would be very happy if he could make it happen. Because this will make him equal the achievements that Rossi and Marquez have achieved.
“From my memory, only Vale and Marc did it (defend the title). It would be extraordinary to achieve a goal like this,” said Bagnaia, as quoted by Crash, Friday (24/11/2023).
However, for now, he put that aside. Bagnaia emphasized that his main focus is how to perform perfectly at the Valencia MotoGP. This Rossi student is quite optimistic that he can achieve good results because the Ricardo Tormo Circuit is considered to be suitable for Ducati.
“But that’s something I can only think about after. Now I have to think about the race and I know this is a good track for us,” said Bagnaia.
The Valencia MotoGP will be a crucial race series for Bagnaia to ensure and defend the MotoGP title. We know that currently his position is not completely safe even though he is quite far ahead with a distance of 21 points over his competitor, Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing).
If they succeed in performing perfectly at the 2023 Valencia MotoGP, the riders who appear will collect a total of 37 points from the results of the sprint race and main race. Therefore, Pecco’s position is really not safe. It is possible that Bagnaia’s hopes of defending his title will disappear if he fails miserably and Martin actually performs perfectly.
