Suara.com – The Civil Society Coalition for Democratic Elections regrets the incident of village heads throughout Indonesia openly supporting presidential election pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. In fact, they are part of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).
Representative of the Civil Society Coalition for Democratic Elections and Coordinator of Kontras, Dimas Bagus Arya, said that it is feared that this has the potential to encourage non-neutrality of village officials in the 2024 Election political contestation. All parties, especially election organizers, must ensure that this political contestation runs democratically with the principles of honesty, fairness and justice. free.
“This can actually only be realized if all parties try to prevent and minimize any potential violations and election fraud, including through the use of village government tools to win the 2024 election contest,” said Dimas to journalists, Thursday (23/11/2023).
With the alleged mobilization of political support from village officials for the presidential and vice presidential candidates, Dimas believes that this will worsen the current electoral conditions and dynamics. He said that the non-neutrality of the apparatus in elections cannot continue.
“If this situation continues, this will become dangerous because it will not only harm the principles of democracy in holding elections, but also question the legitimacy of the results,” he said.
Village government officials should not be involved and distance themselves from political support for presidential candidates. The Election Law and the Village Government Law clearly and emphatically emphasize the prohibition on village officials from being involved or involved in election campaign activities.
“Their involvement not only has the potential to violate the law, but also makes village officials not focus on their functions and duties,” he said.

Even more dangerous, this support from village officials could lead to political polarization that threatens the social cohesion of village communities. Therefore, his party urges the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) at all levels to carry out its function in preventing potential use of state resources and apparatus at all levels.
“Included in this is responding to and following up on community concerns regarding indications and potential declarations of support from village officials for Prabowo-Gibran which could lead to violations and fraud in the upcoming election,” he concluded.
