First Police Brigadier (Briptu) Renita Rismayanti was awarded the United Nations Woman Police Officer of the Year Award or the 2023 Best Female Police Officer Award by the United Nations (UN) on Thursday (16/11). The event will be held from 13 to 17 November 2023.
This award was given to Brigadier Renita, who acts as a Crime Database Officer with the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) for her contribution in conceptualizing and developing the internal security force criminal database and the UNPOL case management platform.

Brigadier Renita took part in creating the concept and development of the UN criminal database. This database functions to map and analyze crime hotspots in Central Africa.
“She is a great example of how women’s participation and leadership in peacekeeping increases the effectiveness of our protection and peacebuilding work to better meet the challenges of today and tomorrow,” said Under-Secretary General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix in a written statement.
Then, UN police advisor Faisal Shahkar believed that the future of UN police was becoming brighter because of the database conceptualized and developed by Brigadier Renita. According to him, Brigadier Renita is clear proof that female police officers can also create new technology-based ideas.
“He and his colleagues helped build trust and confidence between local authorities and communities, which made the work of the United Nations police more effective and people safer,” added Faisal.

Brigadier Renita also expressed her gratitude to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, for the 2023 Best Female Police Award from the UN that she had received. He believes that his achievements are thanks to the support of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia.
“This award would not have been achieved without the support of the Indonesian Police Chief. I would like to thank the National Police Chief for supporting me in this UN mission,” said Brigadier Renita in a written statement, Friday (17/11).
Apart from that, Brigadier Renita also thanked the Head of the Indonesian Police’s Intermediary Division, Inspector General Krishna Murti, her mentor in the peacekeeper mission in Central Africa. “I would also like to thank the Head of the Indonesian Police Hub Inter Division for all the support and guidance to me,” he continued.
