Suara Denpasar – Indonesia will face the Philippines in the continuation of the 2026 World Cup Qualification which will be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, on Tuesday (21/11/2023).
Having both suffered defeats in their initial matches, both the Indonesian and Philippine national teams are aiming for victory to improve their standings.
However, according to the Philippine national team’s Instagram account, their coach, Michael Weiss, said that Indonesia was much more under pressure than his team in tonight’s match.
Apart from playing at home to the Philippines, according to the German national coach, the Indonesian national team is stressed because they are burdened with their own expectations.
“The opponent (Indonesia) is much more under pressure than us because Indonesia is a country with high expectations (in football). They’ve poured a lot of money into it,” explained Weiss.
“They have 250 million people, they have a lot of naturalized players. “Now they are hosting the U-17 World Cup,” said Weiss.
“And they have invested a lot of money in football under their Korean coach,” continued the former Laotian coach.
Michael Weiss himself only joined the Philippine national team in June 2023. With the Philippines he played 4 matches with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat.
According to transfermarkt, Weiss likes to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation with two defensive midfielders.
Ahead of the Indonesian match, the German coach said he would take advantage of all the advantages his team had to win against Indonesia.
“We will take advantage of all the advantages (we have) on the field,” concluded Weiss.
Indonesia’s match against the Philippines will take place at 18.00 WIB. (*/Rizal)
