TEL AVIV – United States (US) President Joe Biden’s senior adviser, Amos Hochstein, has arrived in Israel for talks with the Israeli government and military officials aimed at preventing the outbreak of war with Lebanon.
Axios reports that according to its sources, American officials are concerned that Israel is trying to lure Lebanese Hezbollah fighters into open conflict, which would likely attract American troops.
Hezbollah and Israeli occupation forces (IDF) have exchanged daily fire along the Lebanese border for more than a month.
Hezbollah fighters used rockets and drones to target Israeli military bases and population centers, and the IDF responded with artillery fire and air strikes.
Hezbollah has so far refrained from sending its fighters to Israel or using its long-range missiles.
In a speech earlier this month, the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, warned Israel would “commit the stupidest mistake in its existence” if it launched a major attack on Lebanon.
The war between Israel and Hamas continues to escalate with ground operations by Zionist forces.
Israel’s brutal attacks have killed more than 13,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. In recent weeks, Israel has stepped up attacks and sieges on a number of hospitals.
Currently, the Indonesian Hospital is still under Israeli siege. Many people are worried that the fate of the Indonesian Hospital will be the same as the Al-Shifa Hospital which was attacked by troops from the Israeli apartheid regime.
