SURABAYA – The Indonesian U-17 national team officially left the city of Surabaya after Garuda Muda’s journey in the 2023 U-17 World Cup was stopped in the preliminary round of Group A. Before flying to Jakarta, Sunday (19/11/2023), Bima Sakti expressed his apologies to all the people of the country.
“We apologize to all Indonesian people for not qualifying for the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Thank you for all the prayers and support given to us. All the players have fought hard and played their best. Playing in this event is truly an extraordinary experience “normal for us,” said the Indonesian U-17 National Team Coach, Bima Sakti.
Indonesia certainly did not qualify after Mexico beat New Zealand 4-0 and Burkina Faso beat South Korea 2-1. If the match between South Korea and Burkina Faso ends in a draw and Mexico versus New Zealand also draws 0-0, Indonesia still has hope of qualifying for the round of 16.
But fate said otherwise, Indonesia U-17 had to settle for stopping in the preliminary round of Group A. However, Bima Sakti believes that the future of its players will be bright after participating in the 2023 U-17 World Cup.
“The children of the U-17 Indonesian National Team have a bright future and their potential is extraordinary. God willing, these players will be prepared for the U-20 team next year with coach Indra Sjafri who incidentally will take part in various international tournaments. I hope “They continue to work hard, be disciplined, improve their abilities and maintain their attitude,” said Bima Sakti.
Arkhan Kaka also apologized. Representing the Garuda Muda squad, he apologized if he could not bring Indonesia through to the round of 16.
Arkhan Kaka said that the team had fought hard to achieve the best results. “Playing in the 2023 U-17 World Cup is truly an extraordinary experience for us. We have a lot to learn and continue to improve our abilities so that in the future we will be even better. Thank you for all the support from the Indonesian people for us during this tournament,” said Arkhan Kaka.
