LAS VEGAS – Lightweight boxing gold winner at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Robson Conceicao is believed to be heading towards his demise. Yes, the Brazilian boxer is determined to challenge the WBO super featherweight world champion, Emanuel Navarrete (38-1, 31KO) at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, United States, Thursday (16/11/2023) evening local time.
During his career, Conceicao always failed when fighting for the world title. Previously, this 35 year old boxer lost by unanimous decision to Oscar Valdez in a duel for the WBC super featherweight crown, September 2021. A year later, he lost again when he tried to win the WBC/WBO crown from Shakur Stevenson.
This bad result made Conceicao (17-2, 8KO) receive the worst attention from the boxing public. This is painful to accept, but Conceicao is reluctant to dwell on the past. Nor did he become apathetic when his detractors warned him of the painful night ahead.
The boxer nicknamed Nino is ready to surprise and slap those who doubt, distrust and are cynical about him. “I’m ready to shock the world,” Conceicao told Thaboxingvoice.
In order to reduce Navarrete, Conceicao has been observing the Mexican boxer’s playing style. According to him, it was not easy to defeat the champion. Conceicao also admitted that following one strategy alone would not be enough to solve it.
Conceicao will also use various strategies in his approach to complete his tasks. “I have to be smart and strategic, but I also have to make a statement to emerge as the new world champion,” he concluded.
