MENLO PARK – Instagram users don’t need to worry anymore because they can delete Threads without having to sacrifice their Instagram account. The policy itself was announced by Instagram CEO, Adam Mosseri via his Threads account.
He said this was done to accommodate complaints felt by Threads owners. It turns out that many Instagram owners are worried that they will lose their accounts if they are forced to delete Threads.
This concern is justified because Instagram and Threads seem to be made together. Moreover, previously Meta, as the parent company of Instagram and Threads, did not provide facilities for deleting Threads accounts separately.
“There are two updates that we provided due to input from users. First, we introduced a way to delete a user’s Threads profile separately from their Instagram account. Second, we introduced a new feature so that users can easily hide Threads uploads that appear on Instagram and Facebook,” he said. Adam Mosseri, Tuesday (14/11/2023).
The same thing was also reported by the X @Dexerto account. “Now you can delete your Threads account without having to delete your Instagram account,” said the X account @Dexerto.
So, the way to delete a Threads account without having to sacrifice your Instagram account is very easy to do. According to Adam Mosseri, the way to do this is by entering the “Settings” menu.
After that, select the “Account” menu and continue by pressing one of the two available options, namely “Delete” or “Deactivate Profile”. If the user wants to delete, just select the “Delete” menu.
Previously, Threads continued to receive a lot of criticism because it was too aggressive in entering other social media owned by users. Threads timelines frequently appear on Instagram and Facebook.
It’s not surprising that many users find this very annoying. They even want to delete Threads but are worried about making Instagram a victim.
The Verge stated that this step was actually taken by Meta to fulfill the ambitions of Meta owner, Mark Zuckerberg. Previously, Mark Zuckerberg had the ambition for Meta to become a successful social media with one billion users.
