JAKARTA – Ecuador U-17 striker, Michael Burmendez, gave an insight into his playing style. This also became an advantage for the Indonesian U-17 national team to stop its movement.
The Indonesian U-17 national team will face Ecuador in the first Group A match of the 2023 U-17 World Cup. This match will take place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, on Friday (10/11/2023).
Meanwhile, ahead of the match, Michael Burmendez will be one of the Ecuador players who will trouble the defense of the U-17 National Team. Moreover, FIFA considers Michael Burmendez to be one of the talented young talents in South America at the moment.
Facing the U-17 National Team, Michael Burmendez accidentally gave a hint about his playing style. He admitted that he liked fighting with opposing defenders and providing help from outside the penalty box.
“As a striker I consider myself a much better striker than an attacking midfielder. I like playing as a striker and finishing well and controlling the ball,” said Michael Burmendez as quoted on the official FIFA website, Wednesday (8/11/2023 ).
“I enjoy fighting with the centre-backs and trying to get past him. I also like shooting from outside the box and using one and two touches, as well as making diagonal runs and controlling the ball,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Michael Burmendez explained that Karim Benzema was his idol, even though his position was an attacking midfielder. According to him, the former Real Madrid striker has good abilities in opening up space and can maximize opportunities to score goals.
“I like being in the box in an attacking role and also operating as a false nine and Karim Benzema is my role model. He drops deep to receive the ball then gets into the box. He finishes well, attacks well and runs into space, ” he concluded.
