You probably already know that the descent of the Prophet Isa AS is one of the events that will occur at the end of time. Prophet Isa was sent by Allah SWT to kill the Dajjal.

In fact, only Allah SWT knows the reason why he sent the Prophet Isa to kill the Dajjal. However, if we refer to several verses in the Qur’an, we can estimate several underlying reasons.

In the book At-Tadzkirah Volume 2: Provisions for Facing Eternal Life (2013) by Imam Syamsuddin Al-Qurthubi, there are three reasons explained in the Qur’an why the Prophet Isa was sent, not anyone else.
1. Prove that Jesus is still alive
The first reason is to prove that the Prophet Isa is still alive. This is in accordance with the Al-Qur’an surah An-Nisa verse 159:
He is not from the People of the Book, except that he may believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness over them.
Meaning: “There is no one from the People of the Book, except who will believe in him (Jesus) before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection, Jesus will be a witness against them.” (QS An-Nisa: 159).
