BOURNEMOUTH – Cruiserweight title challenger Mateusz Masternak has had a long and tough professional career. He has been in the ring with popular boxers, such as Tony Bellew and Yuniel Dorticos.
With a wealth of experience, Masternak will try to challenge for the title against the reigning WBO cruiserweight world champion, Chris Billam-Smith. Their duel will be presented at the Bournemouth International Center boxing ring, Bournemouth, England, on December 10.
For the Polish boxer, the duel against Billam-Smith will be his first world title fight. He was very determined to win it.
“For 17 years I have been waiting for this moment, where I can have the opportunity to win the title. During these 17 years, I won, I lost, I had difficult matches, but now it’s time for me to achieve my dream, for me myself, for my fans and also for Poland,” said Masternak, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“In his last fight, Chris showed his strong will, he showed that he can change the game. He is tough, but he will face the challenge of fighting my experience and toughness,” he said again.
Hearing Masternak’s statement, Billam-Smith replied that he would not just give up his crown. He has already realized his dream of becoming world champion, so he doesn’t want to make it a blink of an eye.
“I’m very motivated. You’re trying to defend something and someone is trying to take something that’s yours,” Billam-Smith said.
“I have won the world title and I never want to let it go. I am more motivated than ever,” continued the boxer nicknamed The Gentleman.
