Suara.com – Secretary General of the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that the first President Ir Soekarno and his daughter Megawati Soekarnoputri became leaders of the country not because of shortcuts.
Hasto made this statement in response to questions from media crew regarding the statement by Golkar politician Nusron Wahid who said that Soekarno and Suharto’s children did not excel at a young age, so they could not become vice presidential candidates.
Hasto explained that Bung Karno became Indonesia’s leader because he had a clear history of fighting for the nation and state.
Then the same thing is also treated for their sons and daughters.
“Bung Karno, because he had been fighting since he was 16 years old. And then he was in and out of prison, Bung Karno read a lot of books and political theories, finally Bung Karno, even at a young age, was elected president by acclamation because of his long track record, not a shortcut. “And then his sons and daughters also followed the same process,” said Hasto when met at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Newsdelivers.com, Thursday (2/11/2023).
Meanwhile, Megawati entered politics because of a moral calling due to the oppression of the people at that time.
“Ms. Mega was called into politics because she saw how the people couldn’t have a voice at that time. How everything was controlled by a very authoritarian government, which often treated the people as enemies for reasons of political stability,” he said.
According to him, Megawati struggled, then became General Chair of the PDI at that time through a long process.
He said that the correct and appropriate perspective in looking at this is not about young or old age. But the message is that there are no shortcuts in everything.
“The main message is that there are no shortcuts to everything, everything goes through a process, through an examination process,” he said.
He then quoted words from General Douglas MacArthur’s famous poem during World War II.
“In fact, in Douglas MacArthur’s poem, the victorious general of the Second World War, prays that his son from Douglas McArthur will take a steep path, ‘may my son follow a difficult path, forged through experience including defeat, so that he can accept something “defeat is sincere, but victory is with humility. Those are very good messages, there are no shortcuts,” he continued.
Previously, Golkar Politician Nusron Wahid had a heated debate with Senior PDIP Politician Panda Nababan. In the YouTube broadcast, Nusron said that the first and second presidents of the Republic of Indonesia were unable to make their children vice presidential candidates at a young age.
“Even Boss Sukarno, the president, couldn’t make Ms. Mega a vice presidential candidate, neither could Pak Harto. Why? Because he didn’t have any achievements when he was young,” he said.
He then gave the example of the Soeharto family who could not make their children vice presidential candidates at a young age.
According to him, this is because society and political parties think they have no achievements.
“Now Pak Harto is 30 years old, has a child, Mbak Tutut, Mbak Titiek, I’m sorry to mention this name, but you can’t be a vice presidential candidate, why? It’s judged by the public, it’s considered that the parties don’t have any achievements at that age,” said Nusron .
Nusron then emphasized that the reason the Advanced Indonesia Coalition chose Gibran as Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate was because of his achievements.
“It’s impossible for us to make Gibran if we don’t believe that he has achievements,” he said.
