Suara.com – Candidate for Vice President (Cawapres) Muhaimin Iskandar believes that successful leaders are figures who have experienced suffering in their lifetime. Muhaimin said that his partner, Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan, had experienced that before becoming an official.
Muhaimin said leaders with experience of ideas and life struggles would be able to lead Indonesia as a big, broad and rich country. He conveyed this in a national oration during the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the DPD DKI Newsdelivers.com Muhammadiyah Student Association, Friday (27/10/2023).
“I am among the people who most believe that successful leaders are leaders who have suffered,” said Muhaimin at the Muhammadiyah Da’wah Building, Newsdelivers.com, Friday.
The General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) considers himself suitable to have a duet with Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.
He admitted that he had asked Anies whether the former governor of DKI Newsdelivers.com had ever suffered during his life.
“Mas Anies said that my grandfather’s life was suffering. Suffering, on top of suffering, on top of suffering, and suffering a lot, that’s called suffering,” said Muhaimin.
The politician who is familiarly called Cak Imin then said that the hardest moment in Anies’ life was when he went to study in the United States.
Anies said Cak Imin, at that time was working part-time in a laboratory because the scholarship he received was not enough to finance his education while in Uncle Sam’s country.
“He had to pay for his studies by working in a laboratory, feeding the lab materials to caterpillars. 1,500 caterpillars a day, one by one and if I may cry, this is the hardest suffering he has felt,” said Muhaimin.
Furthermore, Muhaimin mentioned that Indonesia cannot be allowed to run without a clear direction.
“We must not let this country run without a clear direction and the only ones who have the right and can be trusted to lead this country are activists like you all,” he said. (Between)
