JAKARTA – The Indonesian U-17 national team is planning to hold a trial match against a club from Russia, Torpedo U-17, in preparation for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, has confirmed the plan and said that the trial match will be held behind closed doors.
Although plans for the match already exist, the exact location has not been announced. Erick stated that the Indonesian National Team is very open to playing against anyone, but they also need to consider the geopolitical situation that could influence match plans.
“There is a plan, a closed test with a torpedo from Russia,” said Erick to media crew including MNC Portal Indonesia, Thursday (26/10/2023).
The trial matches are an important part of the Indonesian U-17 national team’s preparations ahead of the 2023 U-17 World Cup, which will be held in November and December 2023. The Indonesian U-17 national team is in Group A with Ecuador, Morocco and Panama, and they will start their match on November 10 2023 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
As hosts, the U-17 Indonesian National Team wants to prepare their team as best as possible to compete in the U-17 World Cup and face tough opponents from various countries.
