BARCELONA – Marc Guiu was able to hypnotize football fans in Spain when he became the protagonist behind Barcelona’s victory over Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou last weekend. Thanks to the Brondong player’s only goal, the Blaugrana managed to pick up a perfect three points.
In the 2023/2024 Spanish League follow-up match, Barcelona actually appeared quite dominant. It was recorded that there were 12 kicks fired by Xavi Hernandez’s team.
However, of the 12 kicks, only seven threatened Athletic’s goal. The seventh kick was only able to break through the visitors’ goal.
It is Guiu, who is able to emerge as a star on the field. The 17-year-old player was introduced as a substitute in the second half for Fermin Lopez and made an instant impact, after Joao Felix’s pass was converted perfectly with a kick that saw Unai Simon pick the ball out of the net.
In the Squawka report, Guiu only needed 33 seconds to repay Xavi Hernandez’s trust. It was his first goal in the Spanish League with Barcelona and he became the only player to score a quick goal in the club’s history.
Interestingly, it happened with just one chance (kick). Optajose statistics state that Guiu is the youngest player (17 years 291 days) to make his debut by scoring a goal with Barcelona in the Spanish League.

Guiu is a product of the La Masia academy. With the U-19 Team, he has scored five goals in five matches.
It was this performance that made Xavi promote him to the first team. Interestingly, he was able to repay that trust by becoming the star of the Blaugrana’s victory.
“He (Guiu) is a player that I personally really like, and I don’t hesitate to use local players, because we have a lot of talent here. They put the same trust in me in my time,” said Xavi on the club’s official website.
