Suara.com – An earthquake measuring 5.6 rocked the south of West Java on Thursday evening (19/10/2023). BMKG, in its official statement, said that tonight’s earthquake was centered in the sea, around 114 km southwest of Garut.
The shock caused by the earthquake was felt as far away as Bogor and Sukabumi, West Java. BMKG confirmed that the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami.
“There is no potential for a tsunami,” wrote BMKG in a tweet on X.
According to preliminary information from BMKG – which of course will continue to be updated – the earthquake was centered at a depth of 18 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was at coordinates 8.08 South Latitude and 107 East Longitude.

Until this news was broadcast, it was not yet known what caused the earthquake.
Apart from that, it is not yet known whether there were any victims or damage caused by the earthquake.
BMKG also warned residents affected by the earthquake to be aware of aftershocks.
