United States (US) President Joe Biden is ready to deliver a national address on Thursday (19/10) evening and discuss the US response to the recent Hamas attack on Israel as well as Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Biden visited Israel on Wednesday, bringing a message of support for Israel while seeking to secure humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The US announced $100 million in aid for Gaza and the West Bank, and the Biden administration is expected to propose $100 billion in supporting aid for Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and security along the US-Mexico border.
“My administration has been in close contact with the leadership from the first moment of this attack,” Biden said Wednesday in Tel Aviv. “We’re going to make sure we have what you have, what you need to protect your people, to defend your country. For decades, we have ensured the qualitative superiority of the Israeli military. “And this weekend, I will ask the US Congress to pass an unprecedented support package for Israel’s defense,” Biden continued.
