JAKARTA – The Mansion Sports Box Badminton Association (PB) won a silver medal in the 2023 KJA Open tournament held at GOR Naga Mas, Tarakan, North Kalimantan. The silver medal was won by the pair Asghar Herfanda and Dwiki Restu in the Men’s Double number.
In the final match which took place on Tuesday (10/10), Asghar and Dwiki had to settle for being runners-up after losing to the PB Hore pair, Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Sabar Karyaman Gutama. Asghar and Dwiki lost in straight sets with a score of 13-21 and 14-21.
However, Asghar and Dwiki are entitled to a fairly large prize, namely 3 thousand United States dollars or around Rp. 47 million. The presentation of prizes and medals was a special moment because they were given directly by Indonesian badminton legend, Taufik Hidayat, who won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. This is one of the proud achievements for PB Mansion Sports Box.
Meanwhile, the couple Reza and Sabar, as champions, are entitled to a cash prize of US$ 5 thousand dollars or around Rp. 78.5 million.
Overall, the tournament which started on October 6 also featured three other numbers, namely Mixed Doubles, Veteran’s Men Doubles, and Kaltara Local B Men’s Doubles. The total prizes provided by the committee reached US$ 40 thousand dollars or around Rp. 628 million.
This tournament is the result of collaboration between PT Kaltara Jaya Abadi (KJA) and the Main Naval Base (Lantamal) XIII in order to celebrate the 78th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Army (TNI).
Apart from Taufik Hidayat, this tournament was also enlivened by three other Olympic gold medalists, such as the mixed doubles pair Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir (2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics) and Greysia Polii (2020 Tokyo Olympics with Apriyani Rahayu).
