PURWASUKA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially detained the former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). He was named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption, gratification and money laundering (TPPU).
Apart from Minister of Agriculture SYL, the Corruption Eradication Committee named the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta as suspects. The three of them were charged with extortion and gratification.
“The suspects are suspected of violating Article 12 letters e and 12B of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes,” said Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Alexander Marwata, to journalists, Friday (13/10/2023).
Alex added that SYL was also charged as a suspect in the alleged TPPU case. The former Minister of Agriculture was charged under Article 3 and/or Article 4 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning TPPU.

As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named three people as suspects in an alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan). One of them is former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Johanis Tanak, said that the suspects were named after his party found sufficient evidence to raise the case to the investigation stage.
“There was sufficient evidence to move to the investigation stage by identifying and announcing the suspect,” said Johanis Tanak at a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Newsdelivers.com, Wednesday (11/10/2023).
“One, SYL Minister of Agriculture 2019-2024. Two, KS Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, and three MH, Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Ministry of Agriculture,” he continued. ***
