JAKARTA – Boxing and football are two different sports and have their own fans. While boxing is played individually, football is played collectively by 11 people in one team.
Even so, there are quite a few professional boxers or world boxing champions who are really crazy about a football club. Whether it’s the club you’ve loved since childhood or the club in your hometown.
In fact, they use various ways to show their love for the football club they like. Some of them often wear the oversized jersey of their idol football team, attend matches, and some even “betray” by supporting one of the city’s rival teams.
So, who are the boxers or world boxing champions who are big fans of a football club? Here are 6 boxing athletes.
1. Artur Beterbiev

On his personal Instagram account, Artur Beterbiev once uploaded a photo of him attending a match of Ahmat Football Club or what is known as FC Akhmat Grozny. This team is known to be one of the contestants in the Russian Premier League.
In another post, this Muslim boxer also uploaded a short video of himself having the honor of taking the first kick in Akhmat Grozny’s match against FC Ural Yekaterinburg in Grozny, several years ago.
Beterbiev was seen wearing an FC Akhmat Grozny jersey with the colors green and white. On the sidelines, he also showed off his IBF/WBC light heavyweight world championship belt.
As is known, currently, the 38 year old boxer born in Khasavyurt, Russia, is not only the IBF/WBC champion, but also has the WBO crown. In the professional boxing ring, Beterbiev has a charming record, namely 19-0 (19KO).
2. Callum Smith

Born and raised in the city of Liverpool, Callum Smith certainly adores his home club, namely Liverpool FC. Not just an ordinary supporter, the former WBC super middleweight world champion is said to be a die-hard fan of the Reds.
