HANGZHOU – The Indonesian women’s badminton team team had to stop in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Asian Games. Indonesian women’s singles player, Putri Kusuma Wardani, also regrets that Indonesia will meet China directly.
The athlete known as Putri KW herself lost 15-21, 19-21 to He Bing Jiao at Bingjiang Gymnasium, Hangzhou, China, Friday (29/9/2023) morning WIB. Putri KW’s defeat meant that the Indonesian women’s team team failed to advance to the next round, after suffering a 0-3 defeat to China.
Previously, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, who appeared in the first match, had to give up 14-21, 12-21 to Chen Yufei. Then, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti also had to acknowledge the greatness of Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan with a score of 12-21, 21-19, 20-22.
Putri KW said that He Bing Jiao played well, because she could limit her ball play. In fact, he considered that his opponent appeared different from the last meeting and was not provoked by his game.
“Earlier, my opponent really limited my play from his top ball. Unlike in the last meeting, today He Bing Jiao was very patient in not being provoked by my game. So I was rarely able to attack him,” explained Putri KW in an official statement from PBSI, Friday (29/9/2023).
Putri KW also regretted that the Indonesian women’s team team had to be eliminated, because they were directly facing China. Nevertheless, he said that the Indonesian women’s team team did not feel afraid before the match, and tried to fight even though the results did not meet expectations.
“It’s quite a shame that the draw is why we have to meet China directly, but that’s the draw, so we in the women’s team team are determined to face and fight together,” concluded Putri KW.
