PURWASUKA – The list of teams that have qualified for the top 8 in the 2022 Asian Games (2023) is now known. The giant countries in Asia all entered, while those from Southeast Asia fell out.
Japan, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan were the last teams to confirm their tickets to the quarter-finals after successfully defeating their respective opponents on Thursday (28/9/2023).
Japan has the right to appear in the last eight after successfully beating Myanmar with a score of 7-0 at the Xiaoshan Sports Center Stadium.
Separately, Saudi Arabia successfully beat India 2-0. Saudi’s winning goal was scored by its flagship striker, Mohammed Khalil Maran.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan had to struggle to beat Indonesia 2-0 in extra time. All of Uzbekistan’s winning goals were scored by substitute Sherzod Esanov.
The final result of the Indonesia vs Uzbekistan match could have changed if Ramadhan Sananta’s goal in the first half of extra time was confirmed by the referee. Unfortunately, the goal had to be disallowed because Sananta was declared offside.
If Sananta’s goal had been deemed valid, the score would have been 1-1. The match can be decided through a penalty shootout and the chances for both teams are equal.
Unfortunately, Indonesia’s dream of making history by qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Asian Games was forced to stop midway. This result also ensures that no ASEAN team will reach the top eight.
