You may have heard several theories about drinking water at the right time. Some suggest drinking water in the morning. While others suggest avoiding it after eating.
So, when is the right time to drink water every day? Come on, see the complete explanation from the doctor below.
The Right Time to Drink Water
Getting enough fluid intake is very important for the body. In this case, dr. Diana Sunardi, Mgizi, SpGK(K), Clinical Nutrition Specialist, said that children and adults have a certain amount of fluid intake that needs to be consumed every day.
“Children need between six and seven glasses (of fluid) a day. For adults, between seven and eight glasses per day,” said Diana, at the ‘Media Gathering: Not All Water is the Same’, Tuesday (26/9/ 2023).
Meanwhile, Dr. Diana also advises everyone to consume fluids regularly so that the body remains well hydrated.
“We have to drink regularly throughout the day. “So, in one to two hours a day, we have to drink a sip or two (of water),” he continued.
How to Keep Your Body Hydrated
Please note that fluids are very important to keep vital organs active. Dehydration can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on how much fluid your body has lost or cannot be replaced.
Here are some things you can do to keep your body hydrated and maintain good health:
1. Get enough fluid intake
Doctor Diana said that getting good fluid needs must be done by drinking enough water. Therefore, drink more fluids than usual during hot weather, especially if you are active every day.
“You must fulfill your fluid needs by drinking,” said Diana.
2. Avoid sweet drinks and caffeine
Mothers are advised to avoid drinks that contain caffeine or sweet drinks with added sugar.
“Because caffeine will actually cause us to become dehydrated because it can make us urinate more. Sweet drinks will make us thirsty because they will attract fluid (in the body). “So, it’s better not to, especially since sweet drinks also pose a risk of diabetes,” he explained.
3. Pay attention to signs of dehydration
There are various signs that you are not getting enough fluids, such as dry skin and changes in the color of your urine.
“Insufficient hydration will cause our skin to become dry. Dry skin causes premature aging. Meanwhile, the darker the urine, the less well we are hydrated. “If we are well hydrated, the color of our urine will be clear,” he concluded.
So, those are some things you can know regarding the right time to drink water and how to keep your body hydrated. Hopefully this is useful, yes, Mother.
