Saudi Arabian Ambassador Nayef al-Sudairi, Wednesday (27/9) met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh in Ramallah, a city in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Al-Sudairi is on a two-day visit that Palestinians called a “historic milestone” amid US-led efforts to establish diplomatic ties between Israel and the Saudi kingdom.
The day before, al-Sudairi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. At that time he submitted credentials to fulfill his role as ambassador and consul general in Jerusalem for Palestine, a position that was only created last month.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, who also met with al-Sudairi on Tuesday, issued a statement ahead of their meeting, saying they would discuss improving and developing bilateral relations and opening up prospects for further cooperation in all areas. (uh/lt)
