A cargo plane has burst into flames after skidding off the runway in Goa, South Africa. The Daily Mail writes that the Il-76 aircraft is Russian-made and there are suspicions that it may be related to Wagner’s mercenaries.
Local media reports that the pilot of the plane, a Russian citizen, has died, while it is suspected that dozens of people may have been on board the plane, but this has not yet been confirmed.
The cause of the accident is suspected to be the failure of the braking system. The plane was about to land on the runway, which is 2,500 meters long, but the brakes failed in the first 500 meters and then the plane skidded off the runway where it burst into flames.
