MOSCOW – The Chechen leader who is also an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ramzan Kadyrov, uploaded a video showing his son beating a man who burned the Koran.
Nikita Zhuravel—or Mykyta Zhuravel—a man from Ukraine who moved to Russia was arrested by Russian authorities after burning the Koran in front of a Volgograd mosque several months ago.
Zhuravel’s case was then transferred to a Chechen court in May.
Zhuravel was charged in May with insulting the religious feelings of Muslims after burning a Koran.
The Russian Investigative Committee stated that Zhuravel had burned the Koran at the direction of the Ukrainian Special Services in exchange for USD 120.
Kadyrov posted a video on his Telegram channel on September 25, 2023 showing his son; Adam Kadyrov, beating Zhuravel.
“The internet is still debating whether Adam Kadyrov defeated Nikita Zhuravel, an accomplice of the Ukrainian Special Services. Is this true or false?” Kadyrov’s post read.
“He beat him, and he did the right thing,” Kadyrov praised his son.
The seven-second video shows 15-year-old Adam Kadyrov punching and kicking Zhuravel hard.
