Brilio.net – The term sandwich generation is currently being discussed a lot. The sandwich generation itself is a condition where a person has to balance the dual needs and responsibilities of a family consisting of children and wife/husband with other family such as parents or siblings.
These responsibilities can include physical care, emotional, financial, and other support. Therefore, their situation felt like they were being squeezed like a ‘sandwich’.
On the way to becoming a sandwich generation, some people have reservations. The reason is, people’s economic conditions are uncertain. There are those who have to support two families with a mediocre salary.
This problem was also complained about by a housewife who owns the TikTok account @la_ola09. Through a video upload, she shared her story regarding the sad situation of having a husband who is from the sandwich generation.
“If I didn’t marry you, I don’t know what it would be like to be in the sandwich generation,” he wrote, starting his story, as quoted by brilio.net from TikTok @la_ola09, Monday (25/9).
She said that her husband’s salary was always used up to support the lives of his parents and even his nephew. In fact, during wedding preparations, this woman known as Ariska had to be willing to sell her motorbike to increase costs.
During pre-wedding photos, Ariska and her husband asked their friends for help to capture the moment to save money. He also admitted that he was happy and touched because he could have a memento.
Ariska also said that her husband’s family did not discuss wedding plans at all. She suspected that her husband’s family did not want to spend any money. Sadly, on the day of the wedding, his in-laws didn’t come.
“Here, your family doesn’t have any discussion about getting married, instead they tell you to get married in my father’s village in Ngawi, because maybe they don’t want to spend a penny, even when you get married in my village, your parents don’t accompany you, it’s sad,” he said, disappointed.
