Reporting from Business News Daily, according to research at the University of Minnesota, a neat desk will only make workers do something that many people expect.
This study explores the impacts of clean and messy environments. In the first of several trials, participants were asked to fill out several questionnaires in the office.
Some complete assignments in clean and tidy offices, while others complete assignments in unkempt offices, with scattered papers and office supplies strewn about.
Afterwards, participants were given the opportunity to donate to charity and were allowed to bring snacks in the form of chocolate or apples when leaving.
The results showed a surprising impact of a clean environment: Participants appeared to be more compliant with societal expectations of good behavior. For example, they donate more money to charity and are more likely to choose apples over chocolate as a snack.

However, cleanliness is not a determining factor in the environment. The researchers hypothesized that chaos may also have benefits and advantages, and they discovered several ha.
From this chaos, more creativity is created. In another experiment, participants were asked to devise new uses for ping pong balls. Overall, participants whose rooms were messy generated the same number of ideas as those whose rooms were clean. However, their ideas were considered more interesting and creative if assessed by an impartial jury.
“Being in a messy room produces something that companies, industry and society want more of: creativity,” Vohs said.
Quoted from Rider’s Diggest, simply put, creativity loves chaos. And creativity is a characteristic of most geniuses, according to Arif Dalvi, MD, MBA from the Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute.
Having a messy desk is one of the signs they are smart, than most people think.

For example, a genius whose work desk was always messy was Albert Einstein.
According to him, a messy work desk is a sign that his mind is messy (busy). On his desk there is always a study of his creativity.
Because of this, a messy work desk doesn’t mean he’s lazy, Beauties! Maybe he is busy creating his best ideas.
