A 2nd grade elementary school student with the initials SAH in Gresik, East Java, was poked in the eye by her senior using a meatball skewer.
This incident occurred after the victim refused to have his money stolen by the perpetrator, who was his senior.
The victim’s parents have reported to the police regarding the case that happened to their child.
However, the school, namely SDN 236 Gresik, seemed to cover up the case. The family said the principal did not have good intentions towards the victim’s family.
Now, the principal of SDN Gresik, Umi Latifah, is being questioned by the Menganti Police regarding this matter.
“We checked yesterday (Saturday) afternoon to evening at the Menganti Police,” said Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit of the Gresik Police, Ipda Hepi Riza, as reported by detikJatim.
From the results of the examination, Umi Latifah admitted that she did not know about the alleged violence. Therefore, the school principal answered that he did not know when the victim’s family came to the school to ask about the perpetrator.
“From the information we got, at the time of the incident, the principal did not know directly about the incident. When the victim’s family came to the school to ask who the perpetrator was who had assaulted their daughter, the principal answered that he did not know,” added Hepi.
Hepi also explained that the school principal did not allow the victim’s family to request CCTV footage and asked him to coordinate with the Menganti Police.
“The school principal admitted that he did not give permission for the victim’s family to view the CCTV footage. He directed them to coordinate with the (Menanti) Sector Police,” explained Hepi again.
“From there, there was miscommunication and various mediations between the victim and the school,” he concluded.
