VOICE OF BANDUNG – The city of Bandung is one of the areas that has a train station. In fact, before Indonesia’s independence, Bandung Station was already established.
However, during the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC) era, they built the Bogor – Bandung – Cicalengka railway line, to make it easier to send export commodities, such as coffee and tea.
Priangan Station (Bandung), built by Staatssporwegen (SS) as quoted from the heritage.kai.id page, (23/9/2023). Bandung Station was built starting in 1882, and inaugurated in 1884.
The design of the Bandung Station building project was led by architect Jan Willwm Ijzerman. The style of the Bandung Station building is said to be similar to Surabaya Gubeng Station.

Indeed, at that time, the SS had the characteristics of a station building made from 1884-1909. After completion, Bandung Station was immediately introduced to the general public on May 16 1884.
In 1928, Bandung Station was renovated by architect FJA Cousin. This happened when there was a surge in passengers and goods being transported.
Modifications to the architectural model were also carried out by Cousin. The addition of an art deco style is the main concept for this project.
E. H de Roo led the construction design which included extensive renovations. Because, SS made Bandung Station more modern than before.
After completion, it turned out that SS, who was in control of Priangan Station at that time, carried out further renovations. To be precise, in 1939. They added a concrete umbrella roof.

Currently, Bandung Station is managed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia, and has even been registered as a cultural heritage in accordance with Bandung City Regional Regulations based on Regional Regulation Number 19 of 2009.
