HANGZHOU – The chances of the Indonesian national team qualifying for the round of 16 in men’s soccer at the 2022 Asian Games are very slim. This was because Garuda Muda failed to get full points after being defeated by Taiwan with a score of 0-1 at the East Stadium of Zhejiang Normal University, Thursday (21/9/2023).
Coach Indra Sjafri said the Indonesian National Team’s defeat to Taiwan was a blow for him. Because the target of winning to win tickets to the top 16 of the 2022 Asian Games is increasingly difficult.
“This makes it very difficult for us to be in a group position,” said Indra Sjafri.
Currently, the representative from Group F who has qualified for the round of 16 is North Korea with six points. Meanwhile, the Indonesian and Taiwanese national teams will fight for the runner-up position because they have the same points, namely three.
In the final match of Group F, the Indonesian National Team will face North Korea at the East Stadium of Zhejiang Normal University, Saturday (23/9/2023). Later, the standings will be determined by goal difference rather than head to head.
It counts if contestants in a group have the same points. If the Indonesian U-24 National Team is unable to become runner-up in Group F, it still has a chance of being the four best teams from six groups. Of course, this must be confirmed by calculating each contestant in each group who is in third place.
