JAKARTA – PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir said that FIFA has given a deadline for preparations for the U-17 World Cup. The reason is, the event will take place from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
According to him, his party is currently speeding up various preparations for the U-17 World Cup. FIFA also requested that by October various preparations have been completed.
“On October 27, preparations must be 100 percent complete. Regarding the league, the stadium for the U-17 World Cup on October 27 will no longer be able to be used,” said Erick Thohir in Jakarta, Tuesday (19/9/2023).
The U-17 World Cup will indeed be held in four stadiums spread across four cities. The four stadiums include Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Manahan Stadium and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium.
Erick Thohir hopes that various preparations can run smoothly. This is so that they can meet the targets given by FIFA and all that remains is to hold the U-17 World Cup later.
“We are mapping out how to prepare and implement it, especially in terms of security, logistics and so on,” he said.
For your information, the opening of the U-17 World Cup will take place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya. Meanwhile, for the closing match at Manahan Stadium, Solo.
The Indonesian U-17 national team is in Group A of the World Cup along with Panama, Morocco and Ecuador. The Group A phase will be held at the GBT Stadium from 10 November 2023.
