Persebaya Surabaya’s match with Arema FC will still be held at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday (23/9/2023).
This certainty was expressed directly by PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir. He said that the East Java (Jatim) derby match between Persebaya Surabaya and Arema would still be held at GBT.
Previously, Erick had conveyed this to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), and Persebaya management.
“It broke up yesterday. I called Mr. Basuki and PT Liga,” said Erick, quoted from the official PSSI website on Wednesday (20/9/2023).

Erick appreciated the steps taken by PT LIB and the Minister of PUPR to accommodate the wishes of Persebaya supporters to be able to watch and support their favorite team live at GBT.
“Of course, please use it for Bonek, but I hope you will also look after it because this facility will be used for the U-17 World Cup,” said Erick.
Erick said that GBT together with JIS, Manahan Stadium and Jalak Harupat are preparing to host the U-17 World Cup.
For this reason, continued Erick, Indonesia must ensure that the four venues comply with the standards desired by FIFA for the U-17 World Cup.
“Thank God, I spoke yesterday, finally there was a common ground, (GBT repairs) can be postponed by a day, so 24 (September) can no longer be used, including in all other places that are hosting it,” said Erick.
