BANDUNG – Persib Bandung striker, Ezra Walian, had quite a touching ritual after scoring a goal against Persikabo 1973 on September 16. This former Indonesian U-23 national team player doubled Persib’s lead in the match which took place at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium.
Entering the field to replace Frets Butuan in the 67th minute, Ezra contributed Persib’s second goal in injury time. Maung Bandung also finished the match with a position of 2-0.
When celebrating after scoring a goal, Ezra was seen kissing the tattoo on his arm. According to him, the tattoo is his mother’s tattoo.
Because he always misses it, Ezra never forgets to kiss the tattoo every time he scores a goal. “There is a tattoo of my mother who died, so every time I score a goal, I kiss her,” said Ezra as quoted from the LIB page, Monday (18/9/2023).
Meanwhile, the goal against Persikabo was Walian’s second goal during League 1 this season. Apart from that, this goal was also his second goal after coming on from the bench. Previously, he did this when he saved Persib from defeat in a 2-2 draw against Dewa United, last July 14.
This 25 year old striker seems to be a secret weapon for Persib. He became a supersub figure for Bojan Hodak’s squad.
“I’m very happy to be able to help the team, everyone worked hard and we are very happy with these three points. This is for Bobotoh everyone,” said Ezra Walian regarding his goal against Persikabo.
Meanwhile, Bojan Hodak revealed his reasons for including three substitute players straight away when facing Persikabo. Apart from Ezra, Bojan Hodak also plays Arsan Makarin and Victor Igbonefo. Interestingly, Arsan was the assist provider for Ezra’s goal.
“Yes, I made that decision because physically I started to decline after playing 60-70 minutes. So I brought in three fresh players and that changed the game. We were still able to control the match situation,” explained Bojan Hodak.
