JAKARTA – Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Wamenparekraf) and Indonesia’s Chef de Mission (CdM) for the 2022 Asian Para Games, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, was also present at the send-off of the Indonesian contingent to the 19th Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China.
The release, led directly by President Joko Widodo, was held at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/9/2023). Angela also provided support and encouragement to the Indonesian contingent who will compete in the 19th Asian Games.
In his direction, President Jokowi hopes that the Indonesian contingent can win as many medals as possible in the 30 sports they participate in. He also requested that the Indonesian contingent be ranked in the top 10.
“A total of 30 sports will be participated in. I’m just guessing, at the Asian Games in Jakarta we were ranked fourth even though the Minister of Youth and Sports had calculated that the ranking would fall to 12th, for me it’s really far away. So don’t be 12th “Yes, I ask to be in the top 10,” explained Jokowi in his instructions.
Jokowi admitted that the difference between being a host and a guest had quite an impact on the medal tally for the Indonesian contingent. Nevertheless, he believes that the Indonesian contingent can be ranked in the top 10.
“I know that being a host and not being a host is different, I know. So again my target is to get into the top 10. Usually my calculations don’t go wrong,” said Jokowi.
In this event, the Red and White flag was handed over from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, to the Chair of the 19th Hangzou 2022 Asian Games contingent who is also the Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono.
