A sudden health emergency has erupted in the Galapagos after hundreds of dead birds and many more visibly ill were spotted on the archipelago, a UNESCO natural heritage site located in the Pacific Ocean.
The alarm, the result of initial local testimony to the media, was officially confirmed by the director of the National Park Danny Rueda, according to which, after the discovery of the dead birds a health intervention plan had been launched.
There is still no exact data on the causes of the death of the birds, but it is preliminarily thought that we are dealing with a case of bird flu, which, if not prevented and isolated, can be problematic for humans as well.
