Suara.com – Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (Sekjen PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto spoke about the Democratic Party’s plan to join the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to support Prabowo Subianto. He admitted that he had no problem with the Merci symbol party’s decision.
PDIP itself has invited the Democrats to form a coalition and support Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election. Even though in the end they did not reach an agreement, Hasto said this was a political dynamic.
“In the end, based on the provisions of the law, each political party must make a decision to support one of the presidential candidates and PDIP respects the decision of the Democrats,” said Hasto at the PDIP DPP office on Tuesday (19/9/2023).
Despite the difference in support, Hasto admitted that his party was still communicating with the Democratic Party. However, he did not specify whether he was still lobbying for Democrats to change course.

“Political communication is something that is inherent as the main function of political parties. In this way communication continues to be carried out,” he explained.
“We communicate quite intensely, but in the end each party has sovereignty in choosing,” he added.
Furthermore, Hasto also believes that the PDIP coalition with Hanura, Perindo and PPP also has its own advantages over other coalitions. For example, there is no voter divide between each party.
“So that they will be mutually unified, complementary and then the division of work in strengthening Mr. Ganjar’s electoral leadership will be more specific,” he said.
The Gerindra Party has officially received support from the Democratic Party for Prabowo Subianto’s presidential candidacy. It is known that this support was received directly at Prabowo’s residence at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor, Sunday (17/9/2023).

Today, our party has officially accepted the joining of the Democratic Party into the Advanced Indonesia Coalition,” said Dasco, Sunday (17/9/2023).
